Thaksin Faces Health Challenges Amid Visit from Family

Bangkok: Thaksin Shinawatra is experiencing stress and high blood pressure as revealed by his daughter, Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, during her visit to Klong Prem Central Prison. The former prime minister's health condition remains a concern as he serves his sentence. According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Paetongtarn, known as "Ink," and her husband, Mr. Pitak Sukhsawat, visited Mr. Thaksin, marking nearly four months since his incarceration. The couple, accompanied by their lawyer, Mr. Vinyat Chatmontri, greeted the media with smiles and a traditional Thai greeting. During the one-hour visit, Ms. Paetongtarn discussed her children's education with her father, which brought smiles and laughter, although they avoided topics related to neighboring countries or regional affairs. Ms. Paetongtarn highlighted that her father is adapting to prison life but his health requires ongoing monitoring due to his fluctuating blood pressure and stress levels. When questioned by reporters about the organization of the upcoming SEA Games, which coincides with the governmental transition from her administration to that of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, Ms. Paetongtarn chose not to comment, simply offering a smile in response.
