Bangkok:Thailand's navy chief led a traditional sacred ceremony on Friday morning to honor the guardian spirits of 52 royal barges. This event took place ahead of the significant royal barge procession planned for later that afternoon.
According to Thai News Agency, the ceremony was held at Thonburi Royal Dockyard. It was performed to ensure good fortune for the Royal Barge Procession, which is part of the Royal Kathin robe offering ceremony at Wat Arun, celebrating Queen Suthida's 48th birthday on June 3, 2026.
The navy chief mentioned that all personnel involved in the procession are well-prepared, having trained since early this year. He emphasized that the event is meant to honor Their Majesties the King and Queen, reflecting pride for both the Navy and the Thai public.
Crowds gathered at various viewing points along the Chao Phraya River, including Santi Chai Prakan Park, eagerly awaiting the arrival of King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida. Spectators from across the country came early to secure their spots along the riverbanks, undergoing security checks before entering the seating areas arranged by authorities.
