Bangkok:The Thai men's national football team is set to face Japan in a crucial match to determine the Group A winner in the men's football tournament at the Asian Games. Both teams have already secured their spots in the quarterfinals, each boasting two victories. Thailand achieved wins over Kyrgyzstan with a score of 3-2 and Hong Kong 5-1.
According to Thai News Agency, head coach Thawatchai Damrong-ongtrakul, also known as "Coach Wang," led the players through a training session focused on tactics specifically tailored for their match against the host nation, Japan.
Forward Pariphan Wongsa, who has scored three goals in the tournament so far, expressed his increased confidence ahead of the match. He noted his satisfaction with his performance and stressed the importance of maintaining possession against Japan. Wongsa, who has faced Japan previously in an under-20 tournament, emphasized his commitment to performing his best and encouraged fans to support the team.
The match will take place at Toyota Stadium this evening at 5:30 PM Thailand time.
