Thailand Prepares for a Busy Schedule of World-Class Sporting Events


Bangkok: Thailand has announced a packed schedule of world-class sporting events stretching from late 2025 into 2026. The Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand, Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee, detailed the country’s efforts to host these events, emphasizing ongoing negotiations to renew the MotoGP contract and the continued bid to host the Youth Olympic Games.



According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Kongsak highlighted the significance of these events, including the 33rd SEA Games from December 9-20, 2025, and the 13th ASEAN Para Games from January 20-26, 2026. Additional international events include the 2026 FEI Asian Championships 2025, scheduled from November 24 to December 7, 2025, at the Thai Polo and Equestrian Club in Pattaya, Chonburi Province.



The “Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok,” part of the World Capital Marathon Series, will occur on November 30, 2025, featuring renowned Kenyan marathoner Eliud Kipchoge. Moreover, the UTMB Chiang Mai 2025 trail race will be held from November 29 to December 7, 2025, in two stages: the first at Doi Inthanon National Park and the second at Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organization Park.



Dr. Kongsak confirmed that the 2026 MotoGP World Championship would take place at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram Province from February 27 to March 1, 2026. He mentioned ongoing negotiations for a contract extension, advocating for it due to the significant benefits the event brings to Thailand.



The SAT Governor also revealed plans to bid for the 2030 Youth Olympic Games and emphasized the importance of successful execution of the SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games. He noted the involvement of youth from various educational institutions in these competitions, which will be part of the hosting report for the Youth Olympic Games. Successful hosting of these events, meeting international standards, could enhance Thailand’s bid for the 2030 Youth Olympic Games, potentially influencing the International Olympic Committee’s decision.
