Thailand Concludes Advance and Overseas Voting Registration for Upcoming Election

Bangkok: The Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) has concluded the registration process for advance and overseas voting. Today marked the final day for voters to sign up for the opportunity to cast their ballots ahead of the February 8th general election.

According to Thai News Agency, a total of 1,264,103 individuals have registered to vote early, either within their constituencies, outside their constituencies, or outside the Kingdom of Thailand. This registration period spanned 15 days, from December 20, 2025, to January 3, 2026. The breakdown of this figure includes 4,837 individuals registering to vote early within their constituencies, 1,148,146 opting to vote outside their constituencies, and 111,120 choosing to vote overseas.

For those unable to vote within their registered polling districts or in the Kingdom of Thailand, registration was open between January 3-5, 2026. During this period, 225,920 voters registered to cast their ballots outside their designated areas. Among these, 207,439 requested to vote outside their registered polling districts, while 18,418 opted to vote outside the Kingdom.

The upcoming referendum, scheduled for the same day as the general election on February 8th, will not feature an advance voting option. Instead, it will allow voting outside the designated polling district on that day.
