Paris:A group of 12 Thai youths has been selected to represent their country's cultural heritage at an international conference in Paris, wearing traditional Thai costumes.
According to Thai News Agency, the delegation from various Thai schools, including Srinakharinwirot University Demonstration Schools, Mahidol University International Demonstration School, Ruamrudee International School, and King's College International School, is participating in the 'International Peace Conference on Youth Traditional Culture Education Ignite the Vital Spark of the Heart' at UNESCO Headquarters. The event will take place from October 1-2, 2026.
The initiative is supported by Ms. Sabida Thaiseth, Minister of Culture, who extended her best wishes and provided financial assistance, along with traditional costumes for the event. The delegation is accompanied by Ms. Chotika Akrakitsobhakul, Director-General of the Department of Cultural Promotion, as well as officials from the World Buddhist Youth Association.
The conference aims to highlight the importance of cultural heritage and its role in shaping the new generation. The Thai youths will engage with their peers from around the world, sharing insights on Thai culture under themes such as "Growing Up with Thai Roots" and "Igniting the Light in Youth's Lives." Through their traditional attire, they will demonstrate the values, craftsmanship, and identity that define Thai culture.
The Department of Cultural Promotion views this event as a significant opportunity for Thai youth to become ambassadors of their culture, encouraging them to appreciate and share their heritage on an international platform. This participation is expected to foster a greater understanding and respect for cultural differences among young people globally, promoting peaceful coexistence.
