Bangkok: The Glass-Glassing Association has set its sights on winning three gold medals at the upcoming World Championship in Switzerland.
According to Thai News Agency, the Glass-Shaping Association aims to promote and encourage Thai children and youth to engage in sports and recreation, with support from MCOT.
Mr. Chusakul Rajapaetyakom, the Acting President of the Stacking and Recreational Activities Association, along with Mr. Warit Chaengjai, Secretary-General of the Association, and Mr. Harit Wichitnarong Ruangharit, Chairman of the Stacking Sports Development Strategy, held a press conference at Amphitheater KLOUD by KBank in Bangkok. The event marked the readiness of the athletes before their departure to the WSSA 2025 World Sport Stacking Championships in Zurich, Switzerland, scheduled from April 23-30, 2025.
Acting Director-General of MCOT Public Company Limited, Mr. Phatiyuth Jaisawang, attended the event to encourage the athletes and pledged to promote the competition to Thai sports fans. MCOT is also committed to supporting Thai youth in participating in sports and recreational activities.
Thailand is sending 14 athletes to compete in the championship, covering almost all age groups. The team aims to secure at least three gold medals, with high hopes pinned on the women's singles under 18, men's singles 7-8 years old, and doubles 7-8 years old categories.
Mr. Chusakul also mentioned plans to propose Thailand as the host for the 2027 championship. This initiative will involve collaboration between the Glass and Recreation Association, Bangkok, and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
The Thai athletes will depart from Suvarnabhumi Airport on flight EK 385 with Emirates Airlines on the night of April 23rd, arriving in Zurich on the morning of April 24th.
