Chonburi: Thai Oil Public Company Limited has announced that a lightning strike, which resulted in a fire at a crude oil storage tank, will not impact its refining operations. The incident occurred on May 4, 2026, at around 4:30 PM, when lightning struck the lid of an internal crude oil storage tank, causing a small fire.
According to Thai News Agency, the fire broke out on the lid of the tank at the refinery located in Chonburi Province. However, company firefighters swiftly managed to control the situation, ensuring that there were no injuries or adverse effects on the local community or environment.
The company has confirmed that the situation has returned to normal and that they are currently assessing the damage. The structure of the storage tank remains intact, allowing Thai Oil to continue its production activities without disruption.
