Thai Ministry Urges Preparedness Amid Global Advisory to Stockpile Supplies

Bangkok:The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs has clarified that the advisories from several countries urging citizens to stock up on supplies are standard measures for emergency preparedness, not indications of an imminent crisis.

According to Thai News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been in discussions with Thai embassies worldwide to evaluate the advisories issued by various countries. These advisories, which suggest citizens prepare emergency supplies, are part of a routine precautionary approach. The Ministry emphasized that it is actively monitoring global developments and has plans in place to assist Thai nationals should emergencies arise.

Ms. Jaithai Upakarnnitikaset, the Director-General of the Department of Information and Spokesperson for the Ministry, stated that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkaew, has tasked Ms. Eksiri Pindaruji, the Permanent Secretary, with leading a meeting involving Thai embassies and consulates across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the United States. The objective is to assess the situation and the measures countries are implementing. Although uncertainties persist globally, these preparedness measures are preventative and do not currently signal a crisis.

The Ministry, alongside Thai embassies and consulates, is prepared with policies and operational plans to provide necessary assistance to Thai citizens abroad. Regular updates and advisories are issued to Thai nationals overseas, urging them to heed local authority recommendations. In urgent situations, Thai citizens can seek help from their nearest Thai embassy or consulate through emergency contact channels.
