Stockholm: Their Majesties King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida of Thailand arrived in Stockholm on Wednesday for an official visit to attend celebrations marking the 80th birthday of King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden. The royal couple arrived at Arlanda International Airport on a special Thai Airways flight at 8:29 a.m. local time. They were greeted upon arrival by Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and Thai Ambassador Arunrung Phothong Humphreys. Following a brief reception, the King and Queen proceeded to the Grand Hotel, where they were welcomed by Thai diplomats and a gathering of Thai citizens living in Scandinavia.
According to Thai News Agency, the four-day visit, spanning April 29 to May 2, comes at the invitation of the Swedish monarch. Their Majesties are scheduled to attend an informal dinner hosted by King Carl XVI Gustaf at the Royal Palace this evening for visiting heads of state and members of foreign royal families.
On Thursday, the King and Queen will join a Thanksgiving service at the Royal Palace Chapel and attend a luncheon hosted by the Stockholm City Council. The celebrations will culminate in an official gala dinner at the Royal Palace.
