Thai Government Launches Fully Online Business Registration Service

Bangkok: The era of paper-based registration is over as the Thai government announces the launch of “Instant Government Service,” an initiative that will transition business registration to a 100% online platform starting July 1, 2026.

According to Thai News Agency, the government is making strides to modernize its civil service system to better accommodate the needs of the public and businesses. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, the new digital service, known as DBD Biz Regist, will be accessible 24/7, aiming to reduce procedures, cut costs, and enhance transparency. This shift aligns with the “Prompt Civil Service” policy, which focuses on creating an intelligent digital system for transparent and accountable government services.

Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, announced that the Department of Business Development, Ministry of Commerce, is upgrading its corporate registration services to a fully digital system. Starting July 1, 2026, walk-in (paper-based) registrations of new partnerships and limited companies will cease, with services transitioning exclusively to the DBD Biz Regist system nationwide. This move represents a significant step towards a digital government.

The initiative supports the government’s “Instant Government Service” policy by leveraging digital technology to improve service efficiency, streamline procedures, and minimize burdens on citizens and businesses. The DBD Biz Regist system will enable businesses to submit applications, check statuses, and receive essential documents electronically, reducing travel time and costs, and increasing convenience for business operations.

In 2025, the Department of Business Development processed a total of 348,690 legal entity registration applications, including 85,083 applications for new partnerships and companies, 236,686 for registration changes, and 26,921 for liquidation completion. The shift towards digital systems is evident, with online service usage reaching 89.05% in April 2026, up from 68.15% in September 2025. Online registration for new partnerships and companies also increased to 94.59% from 76.95% in the same period.

Ms. Lalida emphasized that the DBD Biz Regist system enhances transparency and reliability by utilizing electronic identity verification and seamless data linkage with government agencies. This reduces risks associated with document forgery and identity theft, while decreasing opportunities for bribery and corruption by limiting face-to-face interactions between officials and service recipients.

The transition to a fully online corporate registration system exemplifies the government’s digital policy, aimed at facilitating business operations, reducing costs, and fostering a transparent business environment. This initiative is expected to boost Thailand’s competitiveness in the long run.
