Beijing: Supamas Isarabhakdi expressed her delight as the Thai film "Flying for Dreams" was selected among the top four inspirational foreign films at the Beijing Children's Film Festival.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office and Chairperson of the Safe and Creative Media Development Fund, along with Mr. Thanagorn Srisukhsai, Manager of the Safe and Creative Media Development Fund, announced that the film "A Time to Fly," supported by the fund, has been chosen to be screened at the 18th China Children's Film Week. This event is scheduled from August 7th to 9th, 2026, in Beijing, People's Republic of China, and "A Time to Fly" is among the four foreign films selected this year.
This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's policy, which aims to bolster Thai-Chinese relations following his visit to China in July. He has urged agencies to expedite the development of concrete cooperation between the two nations. Ms. Suphamas tasked the Media Development Fund Office to leverage this platform to enhance cooperation in media and the film industry, as well as promote Thai content within the Chinese market.
Ms. Suphamas remarked on the continuous support the fund has provided for excellent projects annually, though they haven't been fully developed for international dissemination. She has directed the office to compile a database of the fund's intellectual properties, both completed and ongoing, to create added value. The screening of 'Flying for Dreams' in Beijing serves as evidence of the global reach of Thai work.
The 18th China Children's Film Week showcased the exhibition "Inspiring Sports Films for Youth," themed "Sports Heals the Mind, the Light of Film Protects the Future." Organized by the Children's Film Committee of the China Film Association, in collaboration with the Film Arts Center of the China Federation of Literature and Arts, and supported by the China Film Museum and the Beijing Youth Center, the exhibition featured ten outstanding films from both China and abroad, including live-action and animation formats. These films were screened at the China Film Museum and the Beijing Youth Palace Cinema, followed by post-screening Q and A sessions and film art classes for youth.
Mr. Thanakorn Srisukhsai shared that "Flying for Dreams" is scheduled to be screened on August 8th. He, along with the fund's executives and Mr. Trithep Thaikuruphan, executive of CU United Extension and project coordinator, will attend the event. Screening alongside internationally acclaimed films from China and other nations is viewed as a triumph for Thai cinema. The team is also preparing other content from the fund to explore market expansion opportunities at the event.
Ms. Suphamas expressed her desire for Thai people to recognize that safe and creative media extends beyond domestic campaigns and awareness efforts, with the potential to be marketed internationally, achieving wider reach and generating income for Thai creative professionals.
