Tokyo: Thai authorities are organizing the “Thai Festival Tokyo 2026” in Tokyo, with the ambition of drawing 1.2 million Japanese tourists to Thailand. Team Thailand is making its presence felt in Tokyo by setting up a booth at the festival to showcase “Thai Pop Culture,” creating a contemporary Thai atmosphere to captivate Japanese visitors in 2026.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ploytale Laksmisangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, announced that the Thai government, through the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and partner agencies, organized the 26th Thai Festival Tokyo 2026. Held on May 9, 2026, at Yoyogi Park in Tokyo, the festival was themed “Amazing Thailand: Thai Pop Culture Move.” It aimed to showcase the country’s charm through pop culture and creative tourism experiences blending culture, art, music, Muay Thai, crafts, and contemporary lifestyles, targeting young Japanese tourists interested in modern culture and unique experiences.
This year’s festival endeavors to present Thailand from a fresh perspective using vibrant and modern illustrations. The event space is designed in a “laneway” style, highlighting the colors, culture, beliefs, creativity, and contemporary lifestyle of Thailand. It is divided into five main activity zones:

Soi 2: Thai Craft and Textile Workshop by JUTATIP presents a Thai weaving workshop focusing on local wisdom and sustainability.
Soi 3: Thai Pop Culture Playground by TOMATO TWINS invites visitors to explore ‘Your Thai Vibe’ through contemporary Thai culture, including T-POP, food, art, and wellness.

The goal is to inspire Japanese tourists to experience Thailand firsthand, attracting 1.2 million Japanese tourists by 2026 and expanding market opportunities sustainably on the global stage.
