Thai-Cambodian Border Stays Peaceful as Leaders Anticipate GBC Meeting Outcomes

Bangkok: The situation along the Thai-Cambodian border remained calm overnight and into the morning, with no reports of violent incidents in any of the seven border provinces. This comes as the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) is set to convene to discuss the outcomes of the recent General Border Committee (GBC) meeting between Thailand and Cambodia. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office, confirmed the peaceful status of the border from late last night until 7:00 a.m. today. He expressed the government's hope that the 13 agreements reached at the GBC meeting in Malaysia will foster a lasting ceasefire and restore peace to the border regions of both countries. Additionally, at 9:30 a.m. today, the Special Operations Center for the Administration of the Thai-Cambodian Border Situation will conduct its 27th meeting. This meeting will focus on evaluating the results of the extraordinary GBC session held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The dis cussions will take place at the Wichitwathakan Meeting Room, located within the National Security Council Office at Government House.
