Bangkok: The Muay Thai Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage has announced a significant rebranding initiative aimed at advancing its efforts towards Olympic participation. The association has introduced its 'MTAT MUAYTHAI MOVEMENT 2026-2028' plan, appointing Major General Patchara Rattakul, known as "Colonel Dollar," as the chairman of the working committee dedicated to promoting Muay Thai.
According to Thai News Agency, the three-year strategic plan is designed to focus on youth development, constructing a robust Muay Thai ecosystem, and advocating for the sport's inclusion in the Olympic Games. Dr. Sakchai Tapsuwan, the President of the Association, shared that the organization has received royal patronage from His Majesty the King, resulting in a new name: "The Muay Thai Sports Association of Thailand under the Royal Patronage." This change is complemented by a redesigned logo and organizational identity.
Major General Patchara Rattakul highlighted that the primary objective is to foster collaboration across various sectors, steering clear of competition or conflict. Instead, the focus is on working together to elevate Muay Thai to a global standard, nurturing the development of youth and the Thai national team with an eye on future Olympic participation.
