Thai Athletes Triumph at 13th ASEAN Para Games

Nakhon ratchasima: The 13th ASEAN Para Games concluded with a spectacular display, as the Thai athletes emerged as the overall gold medal winners. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports concluded the event with a spectacular display, as the Thai team dominated the medal count, bringing pride to the entire nation.

According to Thai News Agency, the closing ceremony took place yesterday at 7:00 PM at the 80th Birthday Anniversary Commemoration Stadium in Nakhon Ratchasima Province. Mr. Atthakorn Sirilatthayakon, Minister of Tourism and Sports, presided over the ceremony, which was attended by executives from related agencies, including Mr. Kongsak Yodmani, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand, members of the organizing committee, athletes, and officials from ASEAN member countries.

The ceremony was grand and heartwarming, beginning with a display of local culture from Nakhon Ratchasima province. This was followed by a parade of athletes from ASEAN member countries, fostering an atmosphere of friendship and camaraderie. Subsequently, Mr. Atthakorn Sirilatthayakon officially closed the games and extinguished the ASEAN Para Games flame, marking the end of the event.

During the ceremony, a handover of the ASEAN Para Games flag to Malaysia was conducted, as Malaysia will host the 14th ASEAN Para Games in 2027. This gesture aims to continue the cooperation and friendship in sports within the ASEAN region.

The Thai national team achieved outstanding results, securing the overall gold medal tally, a significant achievement that reflects the potential of Thai disabled athletes, the effective athlete development system, and the support from the government and all sectors.

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports views hosting the 13th ASEAN Para Games as a milestone in raising the standards of international sporting events in Thailand. It also serves as a platform to showcase the abilities and spirit of disabled athletes from ASEAN member countries.
