Thai Airways Tackles Flood-Induced Baggage Delays with Military Support

Bangkok:Thai Airways International has taken measures to address severe baggage delivery delays at Suvarnabhumi Airport, implementing additional staff and enlisting air force personnel due to disruptions caused by heavy rain and flooding.

According to Thai News Agency, recent downpours and local flooding prevented many ground service staff from reporting for duty, resulting in operational challenges that left passengers waiting between three and ten hours for their luggage.

In response, the airline increased manpower over the last two days and began delivering delayed baggage to passengers on Monday afternoon. Air Chief Marshal Seksan Kantha, commander-in-chief of the Royal Thai Air Force, deployed 69 personnel from the Royal Thai Air Force's Security Force Command to assist ground operations at the airport, following a request from Thai Airways to replace staff affected by the floods.

Passengers experiencing delays are advised to complete missing baggage forms or contact the Thai Airways Lost and Found center at Suvarnabhumi Airport to facilitate the tracking and delivery of their luggage.
