Bangkok: TFEX held 'TFEX Trader Day 2026,' showcasing strategies for using Futures and Options, both for trading and hedging, to manage volatility in stocks, gold, and currencies. Investors were advised to understand the instruments and determine their risks before opening positions. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Triwit Wangvorawut, Managing Director of the Thailand Futures Exchange Public Company Limited (TFEX), stated that the TFEX Trader Day 2026 event aimed to help investors better understand TFEX, as some investors still perceive it as a complex tool suitable only for professionals, when in fact it can be used in many different ways. The event content is divided into three main parts: building a mindset and understanding TFEX products, selecting the right tools for different situations (both for risk management and identifying investment opportunities), and tips and tricks from experienced investors. This is to help both beginners and experienced TFEX users apply the knowledge to their own investm ents. TFEX also has an Academy+ Season 2 program for investors from beginner to experienced levels, with experts from securities companies and brokers providing guidance on using TFEX. Ms. Krittiya Kunabrimas, owner of the "Analyzing Graphs with Kook" Facebook page, stated that Trading and Hedging have different goals. Hedging focuses on risk management, while Trading involves taking on risk to generate returns. Therefore, investors should clearly define their risk tolerance before opening a position. Especially for beginners, it might be helpful to allocate a portion of their savings for trading, such as 10%, and predetermine the acceptable loss limit for each position. TFEX offers a selection of products based on asset class and investment objectives, such as SET50 Index Futures, Gold Futures, and USD Futures. Since futures trading involves margin requirements, investors must manage their funds and risks appropriately. At the same time, TFEX can be used to manage portfolios in various market conditions. Akkarapong Khuangthanachai, owner of the "Stock Manday" Facebook page, stated that using TFEX for speculation requires knowledge and discipline. He proposed the "Five Precepts of Trading," which include: trading with the trend, choosing advantageous entry points, waiting for confirmation signals before making decisions, having the discipline to cut losses if the direction deviates from expectations, and not averaging down continuously until the risk becomes uncontrollable. Regarding investment allocation, Akkaraphong believes that TFEX can be used in conjunction with stock investments, and the choice should align with the objectives and structure of the portfolio; it is not necessary to invest in only one market. TFEX can be used as both a risk management tool and an additional investment option. However, investors should understand the product's characteristics, determine their acceptable risk level, and maintain discipline in managing their positions to suit their goals and portfolio.
