Bangkok: "Tae Achiwa," accompanied by a group of supporters, has pressed the Israeli Embassy in Thailand for a response regarding a previous complaint about alleged harassment of Thai citizens by some Israeli nationals. The group is seeking an update on their request for an investigation into these allegations and has urged the embassy to issue a statement advising its citizens to respect Thai laws and the local populace. They have set a seven-day deadline for a response, warning of further action involving Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs if their demands are not met.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Akkarawut Kraisisombat, known as "Tae Achiwa," spearheaded the demonstration in front of the Israeli Embassy. The area was secured by police from the Lumpini Police Station, with additional support from the 191 unit and investigative teams to ensure order. Mr. Akkarawut emphasized that the demonstration was peaceful and aimed at holding the embassy accountable after receiving no clear response to their previous complaint. He expressed the group's desire for justice and fairness, highlighting the urgency of their demands.
Mr. Akkarawut also brought attention to the plight of business owners in Surat Thani province who have reported similar harassment incidents involving Israeli individuals. He mentioned ongoing complaints of harassment, including alarming reports of threatening messages and videos showing individuals with weapons. Mr. Akkarawut stressed the importance of a thorough investigation into these claims due to the volume of public complaints received.
In addition, Mr. Akkarawut called on the Israeli embassy to remind its citizens to adhere to Thai laws and respect the local people, drawing parallels to how Thai citizens are expected to behave when abroad. He reiterated the seven-day ultimatum for the embassy to respond, stating that failure to do so would prompt him to seek intervention from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The movement, he explained, is a demonstration of strength and a call for mutual respect and peaceful coexistence in Thailand.
