Suriya Proposes One-Year Extension for 20-Baht Red Line Electric Train Fare.

Bangkok: "Suriya", Minister of Transport, has announced plans to propose to the Cabinet an extension of the 20-baht electric train fare measure on the Red Line, covering the Taling Chan-Bang Sue-Rangsit section, for another year. This proposal aims to maintain affordable transportation for commuters using this suburban train line. According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Suriya Juangroongruangkit highlighted the intention to extend the current fare measure after it concludes on November 30. He stated that the Cabinet is expected to deliberate on the proposal today, November 19, as it has already been presented for consideration. The proposed extension is set for an additional year, addressing delays caused by recent changes in the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) board. Once the committee is re-established, the proposal will be submitted for Cabinet approval ahead of the expiration of the existing order. The measure, which has not yet been extended to oth er electric train lines, has been well-received by the public. The popularity of the initiative is evident from the significant increase in the number of passengers utilizing the service.
