Suksomruay Addresses Concert Controversy in Parliament

Bangkok: "Suksomruay" has clarified the controversy surrounding her watching a live stream of an Asanee-Wasan concert in a parliamentary meeting. She explained that she had left her travel ticket for Amnat Charoen and was drawn to a Nantida-style outfit on a fellow MP's iPad, prompting her to briefly admire it. She firmly insisted that she did not play any loud music that would disturb anyone. She also accepted all criticism and apologized if the image had offended anyone.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sukhsomruay Wantaniyakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, clarified that regarding the image appearing in the media showing her watching an Asanee-Wasan concert on an iPad screen in the House of Representatives meeting room, which led to a misunderstanding in society, she would like to sincerely apologize for the incident. She also provided an explanation of the facts that had not been presented previously, in order to clarify the situation and promote better understanding in the public's mind.

Ms. Suksomruay explained that the incident occurred during a tense and lengthy parliamentary session that lasted until late at night. She stated that she is a long-time fan of the group and had purchased concert tickets in advance, but was unable to attend due to duties caring for the public in Amnat Charoen province last Saturday. Upon learning that fellow members sitting nearby were watching the live concert on a paid iPad, she felt regret and asked them to subscribe to a package for her so she could watch the broadcast and relieve work stress.

Ms. Suksomruay further stated that the images that were broadcast were only a brief moment when her favorite artist, Ms. Nantida Kaewbuasai, happened to be on stage performing. She felt admiration and was struck by the artist's beautiful costume, so she moved closer to watch the performance on a fellow member's iPad screen for just a moment. She affirmed that she did not neglect her duties in parliament or continue watching the performance continuously.

Regarding the allegations of noise disturbance, Ms. Suksomruay clarified that she truthfully confirms there was no noise disturbance as feared. She explained that honorable members and senior figures in the assembly were seated in the area, and any noise would have immediately disrupted the meeting, prompting immediate reprimands from those seniors. However, she understands and fully respects the media's observations based on the footage and has no objections to the news reporting.

Ms. Suksomruay stated that she accepts all feedback and sincerely apologizes to the public and the media if the images portrayed caused any discomfort. She considers this incident a lesson that will help her conduct herself in parliament with greater caution and appropriateness. She reaffirmed that caring for and resolving the problems of the people remains her top priority. She sincerely hopes that this clarification will help resolve any doubts and foster better understanding among all parties.
