Phra Nakhon district chief officer Pramern Krairos who died while exercising with his staff at the district office on Wednesday was diagnosed of succumbing to sudden cardiac arrest, said Dr Suravuth Leelahakorn, director of Vachira hospital, on Thursday.
He said the sudden cardiac arrest which took Mr Pramern's life was caused by high cholesterol from overworking, stress and insufficient rest which led to a heart condition whereby blood vessel in the heart was blocked.
Although exercising will improve health condition of people with high cholesterol, the doctor said that they must undergo regular medical checkups and should not over-exercise.
City clerk Pattharut Tatthanont said, from now on, the city administration would require city officials to under more medical checkups and, at the same time, will encourage officials to exercise on regular basis.
