Stressing Anti-Corruption and Good Governance in All Government’s Activities

Emphasizing anti-corruption operations, Prime Minister and Defense Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha stated that he had instructed all ministries to uphold good governance in carrying out all activities and projects.

Speaking after the Cabinet meeting on 2 March 2021, the Prime Minister disclosed that he would be among the 14 government and business leaders to deliver keynote addresses at the virtual 2021 OECD Global Anti-Corruption and Integrity Forum, to be held on 23-25 March 2021.

OECD stands for the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, comprising 37 member countries that discuss and develop economic and social policy. The upcoming forum will explore the new integrity risks, challenges, and opportunities that have arisen in the COVID-19 context, as well as identifying innovative solutions required to govern and conduct business with integrity, with respect to standards for conducting business responsibly and tackling corruption in times of crisis, among other important topics.

The forum invites governments, business leaders, policy makers, anti-corruption experts and practitioners, civil society representatives, and academics to focus on restoring trust and integrity in and beyond the current crisis, in building a more resilient and more ethical future.

The Prime Minister said that, on the part of Thailand, the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission has worked with OECD in implementing a project, known as Thailand Integrity Review. Thailand is the first country in Asia and the Pacific that has carried out the project with OECD.

The Prime Minister said that the Government would continue to do its best in anti-corruption efforts in order to upgrade its operations against corruption. He told Cabinet meetings and other meetings not to allow corruption to take place and said that the Government’s activities and projects must be carried out with transparency, accountability, and efficiency.

He also encouraged everyone to join forces in fighting corruption.
