Chonburi: "Ton Or," a prominent figure in the child welfare sector, has brought to light the suspicious activities of a stepfather concerning the abuse of a 10-year-old child, as revealed by audio clips and DNA evidence. The child's condition is reported to be improving, although extended medical treatment will be necessary.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Chalida Phalamart, President of the Be One Foundation, also known as Ton Or Be One, has been actively involved in the investigation since February 13. During her visit to the area, she identified several irregularities, including the behavior of the child's mother and stepfather. Suspicion arose when reviewing CCTV footage, which indicated that the stepfather was alone with the child after the mother left for work. Despite the mother's initial belief that three men were involved, her stance shifted after new evidence came to light.
Ms. Phalamart recounted an interaction with the mother, who initially appeared indifferent to her daughter's plight. However, after the mother listened to her child's account and realized the extent of the stepfather's involvement, she was emotionally overwhelmed. The revelation led to a heartfelt moment between the mother and child, symbolizing a shift in the mother's trust towards her child over her husband.
The Chonburi multidisciplinary team played a crucial role in this development, ensuring the child's well-being and providing emotional support. The team, along with the director, gifted the child a Care Bear doll to provide comfort during the recovery process. The gesture aimed to uplift the child's spirits and offer solace amid the challenging circumstances.
Regarding the stepfather's defense, he claimed that DNA traces resulted from a shower incident. Ton Or, however, dismissed this explanation, emphasizing the importance of relying on forensic evidence rather than speculations. The authorities acted swiftly, arresting the stepfather shortly after the incident was reported, reflecting the urgency and seriousness of the case.
The child, now in a more stable condition, faces a lengthy recovery period. The Provincial Social Development and Human Security Office is involved in assessing the mother's capability to care for her child moving forward, given the child's need for specialized medical care and emotional support.
