The Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, STEM and Innovative Design Challenge competition has seen the participation of several high performance race car models that resemble Formula One cars. The car models are produced by students from 10 secondary schools and one from the Institute of Brunei Technical Education, IBTE.
According to Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Nawi, the Director of Curriculum Development, the competition provides a chance for students to showcase their talents. Through the STEM challenge, students are also tested to produce high performance race cars by making use of tools and machines provided for design and technology.
The competition among others aims to teach students basic skills such as problem solving in a group, carrying out research and marketing products. The competition's preliminary stage was held yesterday, while the final of the competition for the best three teams will be held today.
