Southern MPs Express Sorrow Over Shooting of Narathiwat MP Kamolsak

Bangkok: Southern members of the Bhumjaithai Party in Thailand have expressed their sorrow over the recent shooting attack on MP Kamolsak Leewamae. Southern MPs, including Zakariya Sai from Narathiwat, shared their concerns during a press conference held at the Parliament. The incident involved Mr. Kamolsak, who represents the Prachachart Party yet resides in the same southern border provinces as Mr. Zakariya.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Zakariya revealed that the Minister of Transport, Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, reached out to him to offer support and inquire about Mr. Kamolsak's condition. During a subsequent meeting with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, it was noted that the Prime Minister expressed his concern and pledged to handle the matter with utmost seriousness, aiming for progress in resolving the case.

Mr. Zakariya shared that the Prime Minister plans to visit the area to assess the situation personally. He acknowledged that significant progress has been made in arresting suspects in the weeks following the assassination attempt. Mr. Zakariya expressed hope that this would mark the last incident of such nature, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the safety of both public representatives and the general public.

Southern MPs collectively issued a statement reinforcing their support for the prosecution of this case, underscoring the need for justice and security in the region.
