Sophon Advocates for Legislative Reforms to Modernize Thailand’s Legal Framework

Bangkok: "Sophon" delivered a policy directive to the King Prajadhipok Institute, emphasizing the need to dismantle outdated laws, connect research and parliamentary work to solve public problems, and drive national development.

According to Thai News Agency, House Speaker Sophon Saram addressed the executives of the King Prajadhipok Institute, led by Secretary-General Issara Seriwattanawut, underscoring the legislative branch's role in national progress. He highlighted the importance of implementing laws that are practical and beneficial to the public, working alongside the executive branch.

Mr. Sophon pointed out that Thailand is currently burdened with many outdated laws, some over a century old. He expressed his commitment to reviewing, revising, or updating these laws to align with contemporary needs, with Mr. Somkid Lertpaithoon playing a collaborative role in this initiative.

The Speaker also emphasized the importance of utilizing the King Prajadhipok Institute's research to support democratic governance and national administration. He stressed the need for cooperation with Parliament and the importance of reducing rhetoric and conflict to foster national development.

Mr. Sophon encouraged collaboration between the House of Representatives and the King Prajadhipok Institute to share knowledge and create initiatives that address public needs and propel the country forward in a meaningful way.
