Bangkok: The Prime Minister has announced that Somkid Lertpaitoon has been appointed as an advisor to the Prime Minister to assist in the constitutional amendment process aimed at ensuring justice. Chaiwat Junthiraphong remains capable in his role.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul addressed the appointment of seven advisors to the Prime Minister, which includes Somkid Lertpaitoon and Wutthisarn Tanchai. These advisors will be assigned specific responsibilities to aid in the ongoing constitutional amendments. Anutin highlighted that the government currently has at least two constitutional drafting experts: Deputy Prime Minister Bowornsak Suwanno and Somkid Lertpaitoon, both of whom bring valuable experience and expertise to the table.
The Prime Minister elaborated that these individuals possess the necessary experience, maturity, and direct mentorship abilities required for this significant task. He emphasized the need for collaboration with the People's Party (P.P.C.) and other stakeholders to draft a constitution that serves the greatest benefit to the country.
When questioned about the appointment of Chaiwat Junthiraphong, the former Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration, as an advisor to the Prime Minister, Anutin clarified that Chaiwat had been a valuable contributor and had a long-standing relationship with his family. Despite Chaiwat's transfer from his previous position to retire as an Inspector-General, Anutin assured that there was no unfair treatment involved. He acknowledged Chaiwat's charisma and ability, which led to his inclusion on the Prime Minister's unsalaried, volunteer advisory board.
