According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Saeng Boonmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission (EC), reported on the status of the by-election in Sisaket Province's Constituency 5. The election was initially delayed due to border tensions, but recent improvements have been noted. Eligible voters and EC officials have returned to the area, though the EC is waiting for confirmation on the safety of voters and residents. The Director of the Sisaket Provincial Election Commission Office, in collaboration with the Election Commission District, is working with security forces to evaluate the readiness for a by-election. Should safety be guaranteed, the EC will revisit the election timetable. Additionally, coordination with military officials, particularly from the 2nd Army Region, is ongoing to ensure comprehensive preparations.
In response to inquiries about military involvement in setting the election date, the Election Commission Secretary-General stated that while he cannot provide a definitive answer, efforts are in place to coordinate with security forces to safeguard public safety.
