Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul welcomed Lawrence Wong to Government House, showcasing their close friendship through an exclusive gift: a Singapore RSAF pilot's insignia engraved with the code "MICKEY," reflecting their deep and understanding bond.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul welcomed His Excellency Mr. Lawrence Wong, Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore, at Government House on the occasion of his visit to Thailand to attend the 5th Thailand-Singapore Leaders' Retreat. The atmosphere was warm and friendly, reflecting the familiarity and good friendship between the two leaders, who have met and discussed matters regularly.
This meeting marks another opportunity for the two leaders to further their familiarity and friendship, following continuous meetings and discussions at various forums, including the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, the APEC meeting in Gyeongju, the ASEAN Summit in Cebu, and the Prime Minister's official visit to Singapore.
The Prime Minister of Thailand and the Prime Minister of Singapore posed for a photo together on the staircase of the central hall of Government House before the Prime Minister escorted the Prime Minister to the Purple Room to sign the government's guest book and view the commemorative gifts exchanged between the two sides, reflecting their friendship and attention to detail.
The souvenirs presented to the Prime Minister by the Singaporean side included a classic 'Architecture' art speaker, designed by a leading Singaporean brand. Inspired by Singapore's iconic 1950s breeze blocks, it features a batik pattern on the front reflecting Peranakan heritage, seamlessly blending art, culture, and music through local craftsmanship and sustainable materials.
In addition, the Singaporean side presented a Royal Singapore Air Force (RSAF) wings patch bearing the name and call sign 'MICKEY,' the Prime Minister's air call sign. This patch was specially made to reflect the Prime Minister's passion for aviation and to signify the close military cooperation between the Royal Singapore Air Force and the Royal Thai Air Force.
Following this, the Thai Prime Minister and his wife hosted a formal dinner in honor of the Singaporean Prime Minister and his wife at the Santi Maitri Building (Outer Wing), attended by representatives from the government and private sectors of both countries. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. Afterward, the Singaporean Prime Minister and his wife departed for Singapore.
