Bangkok: A famous shopping mall has clarified the case of a customer claiming that she was electrocuted while using an automatic touchless parking ticket machine. According to Thai News Agency, the engineering team inspected the machine and confirmed that no short circuits were found, suggesting that static electricity might have caused the incident. The mall is expediting the installation of anti-static acrylic insulation in all branches and closely monitoring customers. The shopping mall issued a document to clarify the situation after a female customer reported receiving an electric shock while using the parking ticket sensor system. The customer claimed that she waved her hand at the machine to receive a ticket without making contact, yet experienced a shock. The mall confirmed that the area was inspected three times on the day of the report, and on June 16, 2015, an outside team of electrical engineers conducted a thorough inspection of the electrical systems, grounding wires, and related equipment. No short circuits or abnormalities were found, leading the engineering team to conclude that the incident may have been due to static electricity. To enhance safety standards, the shopping center has announced preventive measures, including the installation of acrylic insulation at card receiving points to prevent static electricity. These installations will be implemented across all branches using the same system. Additionally, the mall plans to increase the frequency and strictness of equipment checks and maintenance. Meanwhile, the shopping center expressed gratitude to the customer for her feedback and assured that they have been closely monitoring her condition.
