Yala: The Secretary-General of the Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) visited Yala to inspect the registration process for Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO) elections and to offer encouragement to those working in the flood-affected areas. He emphasized the importance of efficient registration and preparation for the election of SAO council members and mayors on January 11, 2026.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Saeng Boonmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission, along with his team, visited and received a summary report on the overall election of Subdistrict Administrative Organization council members and SAO mayors in Yala Province. He also conveyed the Election Commission's concerns regarding the management of the SAO elections and offered encouragement to officials working in the area affected by the flooding in Yala Province. Furthermore, he listened to the problems facing Yala Province, which is a high-risk area among the three southern border provinces. The summary report was received from Mr. Piyawut Khiaokham, Director of the Election Commission of Yala Province, and Mr. Anukool Srijanngam, Director of the Election Commission of Pattani Province, at the Election Commission office in Yala Province, located at the Yala Provincial Government Center.
Subsequently, Mr. Saeng and his team visited the registration site for the election of council members and the mayor of the Phron Subdistrict Administrative Organization in Mueang Yala District, Yala Province. They offered encouragement to the officials working under the flood situation, which could affect the election process. The Secretary-General of the Election Commission encouraged all officials and assured them of a smooth registration process, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the safety of both the public and officials. He stressed the need for a fair, just, and lawful election for council members and the mayor of the Subdistrict Administrative Organization, to be held on January 11, 2026.
In Yala province, there are 47 sub-district administrative organization elections to be held. Forty-four SAOs have already completed the candidate registration process between December 1-5, 2025. However, three SAOs, namely Phron SAO, Tanoh Puteh SAO, and Tha Thong SAO, will be accepting candidates between December 8-12, 2025. All SAO elections will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2026.
