Samae San:A search operation is intensifying for five Myanmar crew members missing following the capsizing of a fishing boat off Samae San Road. Some of the crew are thought to be trapped in the wreckage. The patrol boat T.112 is en route to the shipwreck, a journey anticipated to take at least three hours.
According to Thai News Agency, the fishing vessel "S. Kanchana Waree 888" sank, prompting a response from a special operations team from the Royal Thai Navy Region 1. The team includes personnel from the Naval Special Warfare Command, known as Frogmen or SEALs, and divers from the Sawang Rojanathammasathan Foundation in Sattahip and the Sawang Boriboonthammasathan Foundation in Pattaya. They are set to return to the site where the ship went down.
The patrol boat T.112 is departing from Samae San Channel toward the site of the sinking, with a travel time of approximately three hours or more. Upon arrival, officials will evaluate weather conditions, currents, underwater visibility, and the rescue team's safety before proceeding with the dive to search for the missing crew and possibly recover any bodies.
The five missing crew members are identified as Mr. Soe Lat, 38, Mr. San Htike, 47, Mr. Naing Oo, 45, Mr. Thun Lwin, 22, and Mr. Khin Maung Aye, 47. It remains uncertain which of these individuals may be trapped inside the vessel. Further investigation by the diving team is necessary to determine their status.
After today's search and inspection, plans will be established to salvage the "S. Kanchana Waree 888" and transport it ashore for a detailed examination of the hull to ascertain the actual cause of the sinking.
