Saudi Arabia Expresses Interest in Thai Tropical Fruits and Medicines.

Riyadh: Tropical fruits and medicines are experiencing a surge in demand within the Saudi Arabian market. According to Thai News Agency, the Saudi Food and Drug Administration is prepared to facilitate the registration of Thai products. This is in response to the increasing demand for Thai food, fruits, especially tropical fruits, and medicinal products in the Saudi market. Ms. Nalinee Taveesin, the Thai Trade Representative, shared insights following discussions with the CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Administration. She highlighted that over 80 percent of food consumed in Saudi Arabia is imported, prompting the country to support Thai entrepreneurs in obtaining import permits. Thai food and fruits are particularly well-regarded in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, there is a notable demand for pharmaceutical products, which are currently in short supply. To address this, Saudi Arabia will offer reduced import permit application fees and quicker processing times for these items. Ms. Taveesin encourages Thai ent repreneurs to capitalize on this opportunity to expand their exports to Saudi Arabia. Both nations recognize the significance of maintaining close communication and exchanging information, as well as fostering connectivity and tourism. Thailand is eager to collaborate with Saudi Arabia, which is actively enhancing its tourist attractions and infrastructure. On the same day, Thai trade representatives visited Spinney's supermarket and dined with Mr. Majid Al Hokair, Chairman of Al-Hokair Company. Spinney's, known for offering high-quality global products, is open to distributing fresh Thai vegetables and fruits. The supermarket is also considering establishing a dedicated Thailand section or hosting cooking activities featuring Thai ingredients and seasonings.
