Bangkok: "Saeng" sends words of encouragement to election officials, urging them to view it as a challenge. Secretary-General Saeng acknowledged the heavy workload but expressed confidence that the election should be viewed as a challenge amidst the ongoing conflict in seven border provinces between Thailand and Cambodia. He suggested that this New Year might be different from previous years, viewing it as a gift to the Thai people.
According to Thai News Agency, reporters noted that Mr. Saeng Boonmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission, sent a message in the Election Commission's LINE group. He highlighted that the commissioners are currently engaged in fulfilling their responsibilities for the country in at least three major tasks: the Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO) elections, the Member of Parliament (MP) elections, and the referendum, not including the regular by-elections to fill vacant positions.
This marks the first time in Thailand that all three events have simultaneously covered the entire country. Some provinces, particularly those in border areas with ongoing conflict in seven provinces, have additional special events. In Prachinburi province, by-elections for Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) chairpersons are being held concurrently, making it four events in total. Despite having only 20 people per province, Mr. Saeng emphasized that the officials are committed to their duty and view it as a suitable challenge.
"I am confident in all of our colleagues that we will perform every task well and meet the expectations of society," Mr. Saeng stated. He extended his encouragement to all officials during this crucial time, emphasizing the importance of carrying out these national tasks effectively to gain societal acceptance. Mr. Saeng also apologized for the insufficient personnel within this critical timeframe, acknowledging the added difficulty but urging officials to take pride in their contributions, regardless of the outcome.
