Nan:The Royal Irrigation Department (RID) has successfully completed the restoration of two schools in Nan Province, which were affected by recent floods, achieving their goal within the targeted 20 days.
According to Thai News Agency, the RID undertook urgent repairs at Ban San School (Kururatsarangsarn) and Silalang Community School in Pua District. This initiative was part of a directive from Mr. Suriya Jungrungruangkit, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, to alleviate the impact of the floods on educational institutions.
For Ban San School, the restoration efforts were led by the Large-Scale Water Resource Development Office in coordination with the Medium-Scale Irrigation Construction Office No. 2. They collaborated with the Royal Thai Army's Engineer Battalion 8, 1st Cavalry Division, and the 32nd Ranger Regiment to repair and enhance the school's facilities. The work included restoring the water system, installing new drinking water dispensers and tanks, improving drainage, and repairing structural damages. The aim was to ensure a safe environment for students and teachers to resume their activities.
At Silalang Community School, the Nan Irrigation Project and the Construction Project of Irrigation Office Region 2 managed the restoration. Key tasks involved repairing the water system, school buildings, and utilities, ensuring clean water availability, and refurbishing infrastructure such as fences, ceilings, and electrical systems. The restoration also included improvements to the cafeteria, restrooms, and teacher residences.
The successful completion of these restorations means that children and teachers can return to a safe and functional school environment, with clean water, repaired classrooms, and improved facilities for learning and activities.
