Bangkok: Ratchada Thanadirek has raised concerns about the People’s Party leader’s dismissal of the inclusion of migrant workers on the Social Security Board.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ratchada, a candidate from the Bhumjaithai Party, posted on Facebook questioning Mr. Nattapong Ruangpanyawut’s statement that this inclusion was not part of the party’s policy. She highlighted that the People’s Party leader’s interview, where he insisted such policies were absent from the party’s website, seemed like a straightforward denial.
Ms. Ratchada emphasized that the focus should not merely be on what is listed on the party’s website but on the policies of the Progressive Social Security Team. She pointed out that this team, considered an affiliate of the People’s Party, has explicitly included in their campaign the policy of allowing migrant workers the right to vote and apply to the Social Security Board. This policy, she noted, was instrumental in their electoral success and is clearly outlined in point 14
of their policy document.
Ratchada further argued that when a political entity and its team share the same leadership and supporters, the public deserves a more comprehensive explanation of their policies and affiliations. She criticized the People’s Party for their inconsistent positions and called for greater transparency to rebuild public confidence. She urged the People’s Party to clarify whose stance this policy reflects and to address any inconsistencies between their campaign promises and official statements.
Ratchada concluded by stating that the leader of the People’s Party must recognize the public’s right to question and demand clarity. She criticized the tendency to dismiss concerns by accusing others of distorting facts, asserting that such behavior does not reflect true leadership.
