Bangkok:Mr. Rangsiman Rome, a party-list MP and deputy leader of the People's Party, stated that Kla Tham Party's decision to either support or oppose Anutin Charnvirakul lies with them, highlighting the sentiment, "His body is with us, but his heart is with them." He assured that this situation would not impact the no-confidence motion and emphasized that there is substantial evidence for a lawsuit.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Rome addressed the progress of the no-confidence debate, indicating the need for discussions with the opposition coalition about the list of ministers and the specifics of the motion. Before finalizing the list of ministers, it must be determined whether the debate will target the entire cabinet or individual ministers, specifying the charges if it is the latter. A date for submitting the motion will be set, after which discussions with the whips of the three parties will determine a specific date.
Mr. Rome acknowledged the Democrat Party's claim of being fully prepared for the debate. He emphasized the importance of being prepared before submitting the motion, noting the extensive nature of this no-confidence debate and the inclusion of unexpected issues. He stressed that the debate, particularly from the People's Party, is supported by solid evidence rather than baseless or fabricated claims.
Discussing the potential government outcome in parliament, Mr. Rome questioned the government's legitimacy beyond the number of parliamentary votes. He emphasized the importance of societal acceptance and legitimacy for the government's longevity, questioning how long a government lacking trust from Thai society could last.
Mr. Rome also highlighted the legal aspect, drawing parallels with parliamentary votes. He mentioned the importance of examining the extent to which the "blue regime" has control over Thailand, particularly focusing on independent organizations and mechanisms like the justice system. He asserted that the opposition is diligently fulfilling its role.
Regarding the dissolution of the Kla Tham Party and its potential impact on opposition numbers, Mr. Rome clarified that this matter is separate from evidence. He stated that no party previously shared or presented evidence among themselves, acknowledging differences among parties. When asked about the People's Party's decision to step out of the opposition and its effect on government strength, Mr. Rome remarked that it is the People's Party's choice. Mr. Rome also commented on the image of Captain Thamanat Phromphao, leader of the Kla Tham Party, wearing a wristwatch with Anutin's name. He refrained from over-interpreting it, affirming that the opposition party remains committed to its duty of scrutiny, regardless of who is in the government.
