Bangkok: "Rakchanok" has openly criticized the manipulation of public opinion by certain movements, asserting that the Orange Party (Pheu Thai Party) focuses solely on amending Article 112 and diminishing the military's role. She challenged critics to investigate which party truly neglects lower-ranking soldiers when they face abuse. Rakchanok emphasized her solidarity with anyone treated unjustly and stated that no one would support Anutin Charnvirakul as Prime Minister again.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Rakchanok Srinok, a party-list candidate for the People's Party, alongside other candidates for Bangkok MPs and party-list MPs, addressed the intense questions raised during the recent campaign. She acknowledged that while such incidents are infrequent, answering challenging questions about the military's existence and the party's focus on Article 112 is part of campaigning. Despite the criticisms, Rakchanok highlighted the party's initiatives, including labor laws, paternity leave, and clean air legislation, which have been overshadowed by the focus on Article 112.
Rakchanok condemned the successful information campaign that has misled the public into believing the People's Party only aims to amend Article 112 and devalue the military. She emphasized the party's longstanding support for low-ranking soldiers facing abuse and questioned other parties' silence on this issue. Rakchanok pointed to Viroj Lakkhanaadisorn's committee's efforts to uncover the truth about military abuses.
Addressing the military's alleged involvement in harming the People's Party, candidate Kittipong Piyawanno stated that most military personnel support the People's Party, as evidenced by recent elections. He dismissed accusations of the party being antagonistic towards the military as unfounded. Rakchanok further criticized politicians attacking her party for devaluing the military while questioning their voting records on relevant laws.
Rakchanok speculated on the party's challenges under those in power, citing General Prayut Chan-o-cha's unfulfilled promises and the resulting stagnation and corruption in Thailand. She clarified that the People's Party would not cooperate with the Bhumjaithai Party, as no MP would support Anutin Charnvirakul.
When asked about party cooperation and Article 112, Rakchanok referred such questions to party leaders and warned the media about potential constitutional violations. On her stance regarding the military, Rakchanok expressed her commitment to supporting anyone treated unjustly, regardless of their profession.
