Prit Calls for Strong Measures Against Scammers, Emphasizes International Cooperation

Bangkok: "Prit" has urged the government to adopt strong measures to combat scammers, emphasizing the need for international cooperation and information exchange to achieve tangible results. He clarified that no specific party is being targeted, highlighting that addressing this issue falls largely under the Prime Minister's responsibility.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Parit Wacharasindhu, a party-list MP and spokesman for the People's Party, discussed the government's current approach to tackling the scammer issue. He proposed two key actions for the government to consider. Firstly, he pointed out that other nations have implemented more robust strategies, especially in terms of asset seizures. Secondly, he stressed the necessity for Thailand to enhance its collaboration with other countries by exchanging information and resources. Although he raised these concerns during the ASEAN Summit, where the Prime Minister expressed an interest in Thailand hosting, the specifics of how to engage other nations remain vague.

Mr. Parit emphasized that the government should adopt stronger measures and actively seek partnerships with foreign countries as initial steps to address the scammer problem. This issue has significant implications for citizens' safety and property security.

When questioned about the strategic focus, which seems to involve Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Colonel Thammanat Prompao in areas such as flood management and scams, Mr. Parit clarified that his previous critiques were not aimed at any single party but were directed at overall governance. He underscored the importance of inter-agency collaboration on water management and enhancing international cooperation to tackle scam-related issues. He reiterated that the primary responsibility rests with the Prime Minister, who is actively investigating the executive branch. Mr. Parit believes that with the Prime Minister's involvement, many issues can be effectively addressed.
