Princess Bajrakitiyabha’s Role in Combating Corruption Gains Global Recognition

Vienna: Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavadi, Krom Luang Rajasarinisiripatchara Mahavajrarajathida, has become a prominent figure in promoting transparency and combating corruption on the international stage. Her efforts in advancing the rule of law and justice have garnered widespread global recognition.

According to Thai News Agency, during her tenure as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Thailand to Vienna and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations and other international organizations in Vienna, Austria, Her Majesty demonstrated a significant commitment to international cooperation in crime prevention and the fight against corruption. Her expertise in justice was further highlighted by her election as President of the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ), a role that underscores the global confidence in her vision for promoting justice and good governance.

In the realm of anti-corruption, Her Majesty has been pivotal in advancing the operations of the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA). On November 29-30, 2012, she led the Thai delegation to the 1st Assembly of Parties of the IACA in Vienna and was elected as Vice President of the assembly for the Asia-Pacific group, a testament to her influence and the recognition of her role in international anti-corruption efforts.

Her Majesty's speech at the assembly emphasized the importance of developing knowledge and capacity among personnel in combating corruption. She highlighted the necessity for states to develop effective laws and institutions that can adapt to the evolving forms of corruption. Her proposal for Thailand to host the 2nd Conference of the Parties of the IACA in Bangkok in 2013 was realized successfully, reinforcing Thailand's position as a regional hub for anti-corruption cooperation.

On September 27, 2013, in her capacity as Ambassador, Her Royal Highness presented her credentials as Permanent Representative of Thailand to the IACA, further solidifying her commitment to the institution's goals. Her appointment as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for the rule of law in Southeast Asia also underscores her dedication to human rights protection and access to justice.
