Prince of Songkla University and MHESI Deliver Innovative Meal Boxes to Aid Flood Victims

Hat Yai:Prince of Songkla University collaborated with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) to deliver 3,000 "Grab Agro Innovative Meal Boxes" to Silpakorn University for distribution to flood victims. These ready-to-eat meals have an 18-month shelf life without refrigeration and are intended to alleviate the challenges faced by those affected by the flooding.

According to Thai News Agency, the collaboration demonstrates how Thai research can provide practical solutions during crises. Professor Dr. Yotsanun Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, emphasized the importance of this innovation for disaster-stricken areas, highlighting the sterile production technology that allows the meals to be stored and consumed without electricity.

The meal boxes, produced by PSU AGRO FOOD Co., Ltd., include a variety of dishes such as Chicken Massaman Curry and Green Curry Chicken. The company, a holding of Prince of Songkla University, developed these meals based on research by experts at the Faculty of Agro-Industry, PSU, Hat Yai Campus. The meals are FDA and Halal certified.

The handover ceremony featured key representatives from both universities, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Niwat Kaewpradab, President of PSU, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supachai Tawichai, Vice President for Student Affairs at Silpakorn University. The distribution aims to provide urgent relief to affected areas in Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, and Suphan Buri provinces.
