Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, chaired the 3/2024 National Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Policy Council meeting, with Ms. Supamas Isaraphakdi, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Police General Permpoon Chidchob, Minister of Education, and relevant agencies attending the meeting. The Prime Minister said that this meeting is the third meeting of 2024 and the first time for himself as the chairman of the Policy Council. Previously, there were meetings on many important issues, such as driving science education, research and innovation. He emphasized that the government has given great importance to the development of higher education, science, research and innovation, developing advanced knowledge and being able to apply it for real benefits, generating income and benefiting the people and the country. From the above objectives, today's main focus is on research, especially in science and innovation, to further develop the country's important industries in order to respond to the labor market, attract investors, and create benefits for other developments, especially the 4+2 industry to drive the development of advanced industries and technologies. The 4 industries are the EV electric vehicle industry, the artificial intelligence (AI) industry, the advanced medical industry, and two other industries: the industry for the future, the energy transition to clean energy, and the creation of sustainability for natural resources and the environment. Meanwhile, the government emphasizes the development of human resources that can respond to the development of industries. The government emphasizes the promotion of lifelong learning and upskilling and reskilling skills, especially the creati on of a learning platform for the public through the promotion of the National Credit Bank to create educational opportunities for all ages. It is hoped that the policies of the Higher Education Council will help promote knowledge in science, engineering, and society, solve problems for the country, and use research results to further benefit, generate income, and play an important role in driving the development of the country.
