Prime Minister Unveils Four-Dimensional Development Plan for Upper Northeastern Thailand

Udon Thani:The Prime Minister is advancing a four-dimensional development strategy in upper Northeastern Thailand, focusing on increasing agricultural value, promoting trade opportunities, and enhancing community income.

According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, held a press conference at the Montathip International Convention Center, summarizing the Cabinet meeting's outcomes held outside Bangkok in Udon Thani Province. The government is committed to developing the upper northeastern provinces through upgrading agricultural production and trade, enhancing border trade, boosting tourism, and addressing drug issues comprehensively.

The mobile cabinet meeting serves as a crucial mechanism for the government to directly engage with local communities, understanding their challenges and potential. This insight is utilized to shape policies and development measures that align with the people's needs. The government's four-dimensional development approach includes enhancing agricultural and food production, promoting border trade, boosting tourism, and tackling drug problems.

The strategy involves improving agricultural efficiency and value by fostering future food and bio-industries. Key crops like rice, rubber, and energy crops are targeted for value addition. Infrastructure enhancements aim to connect Thailand with the Greater Mekong Subregion, focusing on economic corridors and special economic zones. Tourism will be developed by leveraging the unique characteristics of each province, while a comprehensive drug strategy involves suppression, prevention, and rehabilitation efforts.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the International Horticultural Exposition as an opportunity to promote tourism and stimulate local economies. The overarching goal is to enhance farmers' incomes, increase agricultural product value, connect border areas to regional economies, and ensure public safety.
