Prime Minister Requests Urgent Meeting with Election Commission on Referendum Plans


Bangkok: The Office of the Prime Minister has sent a letter requesting a meeting with the Election Commission to discuss the referendum plan for October 24th.



According to Thai News Agency, the Office of the Prime Minister has issued an urgent letter to the Election Commission, stating that the Prime Minister intends to lead a delegation to meet with the Election Commission. The discussion will focus on the constitutional referendum and the cancellation of two significant Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) between the Governments of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia.



The MOUs in question include the MOU 2000, which pertains to the Survey and Demarcation of Land Boundaries, and the MOU 2001, which addresses the Area of Overlapping Claims on the Continental Shelf of Thailand and Cambodia. The meeting is scheduled to coincide with the general election for members of the House of Representatives. It is set to take place on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Election Commission office.
