Bangkok:The Prime Minister has expressed readiness to address the upcoming no-confidence debate, maintaining confidence that the Pheu Thai Party will remain supportive of the government.
According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister confirmed that the government has yet to receive official notification regarding the timing of the no-confidence debate. He reiterated his preparedness to provide explanations if the debate occurs in October, but noted that the opposition's request for five days is excessive. He is confident that the Pheu Thai Party will not abandon the government.
Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul stated that the government is prepared for the motion of no confidence against the Prime Minister and 18 cabinet ministers but has not been notified by the House of Representatives about the debate's schedule. He mentioned commitments, including overseas travel in November for ASEAN and APEC meetings, which could affect scheduling. The Speaker of the House of Representatives will ultimately decide the debate's timing. The Prime Minister believes the ministers are ready and remarked that debating such a large number of ministers is unprecedented.
Addressing why only ministers from the Bhumjaithai Party are facing interpellation, the Prime Minister explained that the coalition government is composed of two parties, with the Bhumjaithai Party holding about 27 out of 35 ministerial positions. Consequently, it is expected that they face more interpellations compared to the Pheu Thai Party. He remains confident that the Pheu Thai Party will not withdraw from the coalition government.
