Hat yai: The Prime Minister admitted he remains concerned about flooding in Hat Yai, insisting the Emergency Decree has been lifted and that rehabilitation and relief efforts will continue. He revealed that the process of bringing flood victims home is over 90% complete, and said he will deploy a team of academics to Hat Yai tomorrow to learn from the situation.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, addressing his visit to Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, tomorrow (December 6th), stated that he is currently concerned about the southern region, but he is aware that a significant amount of assistance has been provided. Regarding financial assistance for urban reconstruction and the repatriation of people, the situation is over 90% complete.
As for tomorrow's field visit (December 6th), a team of highly qualified academics will be brought together to discuss lessons learned. He stated that actual field visits will lead to more rapid development of ideas and support, similar to previous field visits by the Cabinet of Economic Affairs, which expedited assistance to meet targets.
Regarding the revocation of the Emergency Decree in Songkhla Province, the Prime Minister reiterated that recovery and relief efforts remain as usual, as the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has issued an announcement, with the Minister of the Interior as incident commander. He has requested the Prime Minister's assistance, and believes the Prime Minister will not object.
