Prime Minister Emphasizes Local Development During Visit to Chang International Circuit in Buriram


Buriram: The Prime Minister visited Chang International Circuit in Buriram, where Newin welcomed her and opened a workshop on regional and local administration. She emphasized four approaches to improving the quality of life: provincial development plan, revenue collection, and cooperation. She also encouraged the governors and provincial administrative organization presidents to be determined to drive the work for the good quality of life of the people.



According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, traveled to Chang International Circuit, Buriram Province, to attend the exhibition of the results of the implementation of the Ministry of Interior’s policies and chaired the opening of the “Workshop Project on Regional and Local Administration to Integrate and Drive Provincial Development for Fiscal Year 2025.” The event, organized by the Ministry of Interior, took place on April 3-4, 2025, with Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Minister of Interior Ms. Sabida Thaiset, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior Mr. Arsit Sampantharat, along with senior executives of the Ministry of Interior, provincial governors, provincial administrative organization presidents, civil servants, and network partners attending.



Ms. Paethongtarn began by congratulating the new Provincial Administrative Organization president and complimented the meeting participants for wearing Thai fabrics, which helps stimulate the economy. She encouraged them to continue promoting this initiative.



Ms. Paethongtarn highlighted the importance of local administrative mechanisms, stating that the governor and the president of the provincial administrative organization are crucial in implementing and linking government policies to local needs. She emphasized the need for effective communication to address local issues and noted her past interactions with governors, which provided insight into regional challenges.



Ms. Paethongtarn addressed recent disasters, underscoring the governor’s role in budget allocation to assist affected households. She mentioned ongoing issues like PM 2.5 dust and a recent earthquake impacting the North and Bangkok, stressing the importance of maintaining confidence in Thailand’s resilience.



The Prime Minister outlined four guidelines for improving quality of life, focusing on green initiatives, education management, joint provincial development strategies, and consistent revenue and expenditure policies. She emphasized the importance of eradicating drug problems and fostering cooperation to achieve government policy goals. The government has allocated 10.04 percent more subsidies to local administrative organizations for 2025.



Ms. Paethongtarn urged governors to remain committed to their roles as representatives of the government, ensuring policies reach the people. She invited governors to coordinate with her team during her visits to better understand and address regional issues.



Following her speech, Ms. Paethongtarn toured Chang International Circuit, guided by Mr. Newin Chidchob, CEO of Buriram United Football Club.
