Bangkok: The Prime Minister convened a meeting with government executives, private sectors, and public sector representatives to address the PM 2.5 air pollution issue before the year concludes. The focus is on utilizing investment mechanisms in community and social development, along with CSR activities, to ensure clean air for the people of Thailand.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra invited key figures such as Mr. Jakraphol Tangsutthitham, Chairman of the Special Committee on the Draft Act on Clean Air Management, and Ms. Aonfa Vejjajiva, Secretary-General of the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission, among others, to engage in a collaborative approach to tackle the PM 2.5 dust problem. This initiative, co-hosted by the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission and the Office of the Board of Investment, involves coordination with various departments to enhance air pollution management in the country.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to all sectors for their integrated efforts in addressing the PM 2.5 pollution challenge. The collaborative approach of government and private sectors has enabled more precise and widespread implementation of solutions. With expectations of increased PM 2.5 levels towards the year's end, the government, alongside agencies like the Royal Forest Department, is employing modern technology and personnel to monitor and prevent forest fires, reduce burning in agricultural areas, and explore alternatives like using agricultural waste for energy production.
Mr. Chak highlighted the progress of the Clean Air Management Act, which aims to restore clean air and facilitate negotiations on transboundary smog. The Prime Minister underscored the importance of public education regarding the Act and the need for measures that allow time for public adaptation while considering their impact. He acknowledged the cooperation between government, private, and public sectors in this endeavor to provide clean air to all citizens.
