Bangkok: The Prime Minister insists that he will not rush to push the Entertainment Complex Act into the parliament, saying that he will try to manage the work in every way possible to avoid conflict. He pointed out that there is still time to reach an understanding after the Senate set up a wall and disagreed.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, gave an interview about the progress of the draft bill on the operation of entertainment complexes, which is currently being considered by the House of Representatives. She stated that the matter is not urgent, and that it will be the process of the House. However, the coalition parties are in constant communication. If there is anything they want to adjust, they will discuss it in detail. If there is nothing missing, they will update each other regularly.
When asked if it was confirmed that the draft would have to pass the House before the end of this session, the Prime Minister mentioned that discussions are needed first to determine what could be done, as detailed discussions have not yet occurred, but there have been general discussions with the leaders of the coalition parties.
Regarding the stance of the senators who appear to disagree with the draft, the Prime Minister noted that it has not reached the senators yet. The reporter highlighted that the senators have a clear attitude of resistance, to which the Prime Minister replied that there is still time to address misunderstandings. Currently, the matter is still at the stage of the MPs.
On the proposal to gather public opinions, the Prime Minister remarked that public opinions have already been gathered four times and the results are satisfactory. Further steps will be considered based on these outcomes.
In response to queries about a meeting of coalition party leaders that was cancelled last Tuesday, the Prime Minister explained that the cancellation was unintentional, as an appointment was made for the cabinet. The meeting was intended to follow the cabinet session, but time constraints led to its cancellation. No new issues arose, and some party leaders misunderstood the situation, leading to confusion. Another meeting will be scheduled later.
When asked about the agenda of the upcoming discussions, the Prime Minister stated that the initial focus will be on timing and future plans. The emphasis is on accuracy and appropriateness, and efforts will be made to manage everything to avoid conflict.
